Person Search Guide
TO SEARCH THE 1900 & 1901 CENSUS DATABASE
Select 'PERSON SEARCH' from the Top Menu
bar on the Home Page
Then on Resultant Page, CLICK THE SPANNER on Right Hand side as this activates the vital Advanced Search function
ADVANCED SEARCH PAGE
That generates the following SEARCH page which has instructions on how to select the Country required. The following is the Default (based on Ireland Census data) however the Address information will change to reflect the Country selected. (Note….the Search Page for USA is at the end of this Guide)
Apart from Names, Search parameters also include Year of Birth. Additionally, Searches can be confined to
Search to by County and/or by DED (without including any Personal
Names) and for Ireland, also by Townland or Street (spelling must be exactly
same as in the database)

RESULTS
The returned Search Results are Summaries of each record. Simply Click on the box to the Left of each Summary record to view full detail captured on each Census record…..for example with Ireland's 1901 Census records this includes such information as Religion, Literacy etc.
(At the Foot
of this Guide are the Websites for the respective Census for each Country)*. These will give access to the
ORIGINAL returns…….each will show ALL OCCUPANTS of the RESIDENCE which can be
helpful, especially if In-Laws or other Relatives were in residence. These
sites also will give access to Other Year Censuses (Ireland, only 1911))
MAPS
You will also see a MAP LOCATION at the
foot of the Detailed Record page for an individual. This Mapping exercise
has been completed for all Countries and for all Names, now including CARNAHAN in the UNITED STATES.
Maps can also be accessed at the Search Result stage and will show the Map locations for all of the Records listed on each Results Page (maximum 100 Results per Page but Map Pins reduce if more than 1 person recorded at same location). Click on the Map Pin icon as below.
